This one is for sale on Walmart.com for $399
You can pick up this next sofa at any RC Willey store for $399
So finally, after seeing all of these very expensive options that I knew I couldn't afford, I decided that there had to be another way. I went to my local D.I. thrift store and found a the softest, longest, no odor sofa with a nice shape that I could find. (I had about 12 sofas to choose from.) I paid $35 for this sofa and then went to my local Target store (because they have a good selection of slipcovers that happen to be on sale this week). I bought a 2 piece stretch slipcover and 5 throw pillows that I found on clearance. The combined total: I spent $150 on this sofa and materials. And ............. TA DA!........ this is what now sits in our living room...

Great post! We just got a "new" sofa too after looking around for used and having no luck. We were given a nice sofa from a woman in our ward! Awesomeness! All it will cost us is some happily given service hours.
Paige! I added you to my blog list, hope that's ok! Great job on the sofa. We need to do a get together soon, before the weather turns and we can be outside. Let me know what's good for you!
Hey there, the sofa looks great! Nice job!
You're are my thrifty role model.:o) Isn't it a shame that Ikea furniture has gotten so expensive?
You are so resourceful! It looks great!
I liked the result that you came up with by adding slip cover and throw pillows. I think your 'new' sofa actually looks cuter than the ones you could have purchased.
